On September 24th-27th, Lee County Care and Rehabilitation Center sent resident James Gabbard on a trip of a lifetime. James, along with Quality of Life Director Wayne Phillips and LPN Rachel Steele, traveled to South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach.
Early Monday morning September 24th, James and staff left Lee County to board their Gray Line Tour bus in London, Kentucky. During the ride, they made several stops to pick up residents and staff from other Signature HealthCARE facilities throughout Kentucky and Tennessee. Upon arriving in Myrtle Beach, James stayed in the Avista Condo over looking the Atlantic Ocean.
Some activities James enjoyed included a scenic Intercoastal Waterway boat tour, dinner at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, shopping at Broadway at the Beach, sand castle building and kite flying at the beach, Pirates Voyage Dinner show, and most of all, relaxing in the sun.
James’s reaction when first viewing the ocean was priceless. All he could do was look out into the distance with amazement. He said it was truly a trip of a life time. Upon arriving back to the center on September 27th, James shared his experiences with fellow residents and staff with great enthusiasm.
